Ready to take the FTCE?  You’ve GOT THIS!  Let USF help you prepare for certification!

In order to become certified as an educator in the state of Florida, learners must pass a series of standardized tests used to assess the knowledge and skills of prospective teachers. These exams, known as the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE), require teachers to pass three exams in order to hold a professional certificate: a General Knowledge Test (which consists of four sub-tests), a Professional Education exam, and at least one Subject Area Examination.

This online course focuses on preparation for the four General Knowledge subtests. The General Knowledge Test or GKT assesses a wide variety of skills and knowledge thought to be necessary to begin a successful career as an educator of any grade level or subject area. The four subtest subject areas include Reading, English Language Skills (ELS), Mathematics, and a written Essay.

In this preparation course, you will have the opportunity to assess your current level of readiness for the GKT exam by participating in sample tests that simulate the official GKT exam as well as review the various competencies and skills covered on the four subtests.
